The rolling landscape of Northern Virginia offers a perfect site for many wineries and produces fine examples of every kind of wine. Many of us look forward to spending a day savoring the different tastes. But wine tasting doesn’t have to be an adult outing only. Offering a picturesque location and award winning wines this winery is a great location for a picnic with the family. They offer horseback tours of their vineyards on weekends. And a small hayride takes you to a nearby farmers market and farm animals for the young ones to delight in. Bring your own food or purchase on location from a limited menu. Pets are welcome too. Carry an umbrella on a sunny day as the ones offered by the winery get grabbed fast.

Bluemont Vineyard– (35 Miles from Dulles International Airport)

Nestled on the slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this vineyard offers breathtaking panoramic views from their tasting rooms. This small winery is an extension of Great Country Farms which is across the street and offers a variety of fun activities for the kids. The winery welcomes pets but does not allow outside food, and picnics are not permitted.
Potomac Point Winery and Vineyard– (47 miles from Dulles International Airport)

Located on the Grapes and Grain trail this winery boasts of a romantic New Orleans styled courtyard to enjoy their wines and food from their Bistro. The winery hosts some exciting events like kayaking on the Potomac River and their annual Harvest Festival with family fun activities including grape stomping. Their Lil Buds Room is a perfect spot for kids to entertain themselves while you taste their wines. Outside food is allowed in their picnic pavilion. Reservation is highly recommended for larger parties.
